Studies in Data Science, Econometrics, and Quantitative Methods
At the University of Turku, students interested in Finance, Data Science, Econometrics, and Quantitative Methods can take part in research and educational programs offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Turku School of Economics.
Program Overview
We offer B.Sc., M.Sc., and D.Sc. programs that combine academic coursework with practical applications in Finance, Econometrics, and related quantitative fields. The B.Sc. program, taught in Finnish, is aimed at undergraduate students. The M.Sc. and D.Sc. programs allow students to specialize in these areas and include courses taught in English, making them accessible to both local and international students. Educational Features
Students have access to resources such as the Turku Center of Statistics, as well as small group meetings and tutorial sessions. These are intended to help students understand complex material and develop practical skills in data analysis.
Student Activities
Students may participate in extracurricular activities, such as the CFA Research Challenge and other academic competitions. Academic associations like Aktiiva and KY-Kasino also offer opportunities for involvement outside of coursework.
Exchange Studies
International exchange students are welcome to enroll in advanced courses in finance and econometrics. Many master’s level courses are taught in English and are designed to be academically rigorous.
Learning Environment
The TSE Finance Lab is equipped with analytical and data visualization tools, providing access to key databases, including LSEG, Orbis, and Bloomberg, as well as statistical software. This facility supports students in applying analytical techniques to real-world data.
